Her Name was RioRio: Graduation Triangle Complete

May 19, 2017

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

I’m sure you’ve heard the news by now: Kobushi Factory subleader Fujii Rio will be graduating. Soon.

My initial reaction was basically South Kai in first scene in the Broly Abridged Movie (particularly 0:22-0:32… or 0:48. Also, language warning. Then again, if you’re familiar with Team Four Star’s work this may not be necessary).

Yeah… I took a quasi-hiatus from Twitter for the sake of my sanity (don’t ask) and despite getting weird vibes of something akin to this, especially regarding Fujii Rio (I honestly don’t why these things happen!), this was out of left field even for me.

Now that things have calmed down… let’s see.

Perfect Cherry Blossom Night Fever

March 17, 2016

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

It has been 168 days (or 5 months, 15 days) since the release Kobushi Factory’s major debut single, Dosukoi! Kenkyo ni Daitan / Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san no Uta / Nen ni wa Nen (Nen Iri Ver.). It has also been 156 days (or 5 months, 3 days) since the last Kobushi Factory review. Between that timespan, our Magnolias won the Best Newcomer Award to the joy of all. This came with graduations in the air as it’s been nearly a month since Fukuda Kanon left, a few days until Sayashi Riho’s graduation, and days after Tamura Meimi announced her departure. With this wind of change, the Magnolias are blooming with high expectations. (There was even a confession saying that Kobushi’s talent level was impending graduate-levels.)

During the annual New Year’s Eve countdown concert, we received news of their major sophomore single, Sakura Night Fever / Chotto Guchoku ni! Chototsu Moushin / Osu! Kobushi Tamashii. The first A-side, Sakura Night Fever, was performed during the H!P winter tour, Hello! Project 2016 WINTER ~DANCING! SINGING! EXCITING!~.

So let’s dig into Sakura Night Fever and see if Kobushi Factory had continued to make like Saitama and defeat enemies with a punch.

Farewell to 2015

December 31, 2015

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Well, it’s the last day of 2015 (or the first day of 2016, depending on where you are). How has it been for you? Hopefully, you’re not dealing with a cold like I am! XD

A Post-Thanksgiving Feast of News

December 2, 2015

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

How have you been all this time? Me, I’ve been juggling a few projects and fighting off a major case of burnout. (I think it’s starting to show in recent posts again.)

Seeing as it was around Thanksgiving, I decided to give myself a slight impromptu break from all of the blogging I’ve been doing. It’s a rather heavy time in the fandom anyway, what with the graduations and YouTube Red situation and all (and don’t get me started on other current events)…

Anyway, here’s some news! Read the rest of this entry »

Be Double Sure! Humble but Bold Songs of Ramen Loving Girls

September 1, 2015

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

How was the end of your summer? Mine was rather eventful. I finally unveiled the project that kept me busy all this time, along with the aforementioned Tumblr side-blog.

Regardless, if you’ve been paying attention on any of my Tumblrs, you’d notice that I’ve been keeping up with H!P with Kobushi Factory’s main debut being no exception. (I did promise a post today, did I not?) Read the rest of this entry »

Welcome back, Magi-Kat!

June 21, 2015

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

It has been quite a while hasn’t it?

As mentioned on this post on Kathartic Bohemia, I took a break from blogging to better focus on other things (one big thing being art). This quietly went into effect mid/late May after finishing the post about C-ute’s impending concert in Mexico (but if you’ve read the posts that preceded it, you can see why I needed a break). Between fulfilling a past obligation, depicting a forgotten kirin nurse and a plucky thief with a heart of gold as Puffs, coloring covers for an MLP fanfic and a webcomic, depicting grande dame vampires, and unveiling a future project, I’ve been occupying my time.

However, while I was on break from blogging (which began to increase with every art project and even cheated with a surprise music review), the idol world kept turning:

BMS: The Results Show – Act SP

May 22, 2015

Preface: Before anyone says anything, there are duplicate videos on here (but at different times) because I couldn’t find the clips as standalones.

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Welcome to a surprise bonus edition of Berryz Memorial Survey: The Results Show. Last week was the final post detailing the results. This post, I’m taking the time to reflect and talk about legacy of the Berryz in the forms of their successors. But first, let’s recap the history of this now-legendary group:

  • The group was formed with 8 members in 2004. In Autumn 2005, Ishimura Maiha announced her graduation, which took place later in the season. Fortunately, unlike in their sister group C-ute, this was the only graduation to occur in Berryz history.
  • The group continued as a septet, building up momentum and footing. Many that were in the fandom (at least, the ones who responded and their answers went though) came in during this time. This came to an end around the late 2000s.
  • Things really skyrocketed for the Berryz when they began a three year-long tie-in period to the Inazuma Eleven franchise. This was marked by double A-side releases, an increase of exposure, and a spike in sales.
  • Around 2011, things calmed down and the Berryz began a transitional phase where they entered adulthood. In 2014, their hiatus was announced, which commenced on March 3rd, the 11th anniversary of their debut.

Now that we have covered the past, let’s take some present time to look to the future!
