Feel It! Dance the Furnace Foot Stomp

June 15, 2017

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

If you’re reading this, then we have eaten our tear-sprinkled chocolate pudding, staining our brand-new blue jeans as we’ve watched (or wished to have watched) C-ute head off into the sunset. The sheer sense of loss cannot but put into words.

Neither can you accurately describe the sense of pride and joy that came with H!P as a whole… once you brush off the anxious feeling of uncertainly surrounding the rebooted Country Musume. (You can try though.)

However, to quote many a song, “life goes on.” We’ve had our time to grieve, to celebrate, to say goodbye… even if many of us probably did at least one of those things at this point. C-ute has left their mark and their legacy is sealed, a torch passed on to the rest of H!P.

Let us talk about one such part of this sisterhood, shall we?

Juice=Juice. Cool, refreshing, mature Juice=Juice. “Youthfully sizzling” Juice=Juice. Juice=Juice, named by the Great and Powerful Tsunku to express a desire for the group to “be always fresh and full of personality, and that in Japan anything is called ‘juice” whereas overseas unless it’s 100% pure it’s not ‘juice’. Despite that he said they would not be a childlike group and that he wants them to reach beyond their limits with being cool.” (Thanks generasia.)

Juice=Juice, having spent the early part of 2016 in a dorama about being an idol and hoping to get a gig at the legendary Budokan. Who have done 220+ shows in a span of 2 years. Who will be going on the very first “world tour” in H!P’s history, not even going for one-night engagements in far-off lands (to the mixed delight, chagrin, and fascination of the fandom at the “experiment”. As of this writing, the dates for the shows in Mexico, the UK, France, and Germany have been announced).

However, I’m getting ahead of myself. It’s been at least 6 months and a day since their last release (and four months since my review of said release). Therefore, let’s dig into Juice=Juice #9 and see what freshness they’ve brought into 2017.

Keep On Heartdancing on Dream Road, ‘Morrow Idiot!

February 16, 2017

Preface: There’s going to be a lot of embedded content in this post.

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Announced on July 3rd, Juice=Juice’s 8th single is the first triple A-side since their major debut single back in 2014 with the titles and lyricist info announced on the 12th. This single in particular has a fascinating bit of trivia in that one of the A-sides is written by the former Moon Princess herself, the ANGERME alumni Fukuda Kanon. (The name Kanon seems to be on the radar these days….)

On August 11, it was announced that the release date was moved from the original September 7th to October 26th.

So let’s dig into Juice=Juice’s triple feature and see if they kept up the fruity goodness.

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Juice=Juice’s tenth single release, Next is you! / Karada Dake ga Otona ni Nattan ja nai, is almost here. Their first single in 10 months, this single (well, the first A-side) serves as a tie-in to their Budokan drama. However, anything relating to it is region-locked. Fortunately, the full MV is not so let’s dig into Next is you! (which is technically the debut single for NEXT YOU, the heroines of Budokan).

Ripe=Juice: Float Like a Black Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee

January 21, 2016

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Juice=Juice’s tenth single release, Next is you! / Karada Dake ga Otona ni Nattan ja nai. Their first single in 10 months, this single (well, the first A-side) serves as a tie-in to their Budokan drama. However, anything relating to it is region-locked so this post will focus primarily on the other A-side, Karada Dake ga Otona ni Nattan ja nai.

Announced in the last quarter of 2015 with the covers being unveiled earlier this month, this also marked their first single release since the elephantine First Squeeze! release this past summer.

Well, enough beating around the bush. Let’s squeeze this fruit!

Juice=Cubes

July 14, 2015

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

The theme treat of this post is juice cubes, a delectable treat achieved by freezing fruit juice in ice trays.

In this spirit, I will spotlight Juice=Juice through their discography up until the point we’ve reached here and now: their album, set to be released this week! I’ve done my darnedest to split the releases into sets of three, which is why it may look a little weird towards the end.

Welcome back, Magi-Kat!

June 21, 2015

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

It has been quite a while hasn’t it?

As mentioned on this post on Kathartic Bohemia, I took a break from blogging to better focus on other things (one big thing being art). This quietly went into effect mid/late May after finishing the post about C-ute’s impending concert in Mexico (but if you’ve read the posts that preceded it, you can see why I needed a break). Between fulfilling a past obligation, depicting a forgotten kirin nurse and a plucky thief with a heart of gold as Puffs, coloring covers for an MLP fanfic and a webcomic, depicting grande dame vampires, and unveiling a future project, I’ve been occupying my time.

However, while I was on break from blogging (which began to increase with every art project and even cheated with a surprise music review), the idol world kept turning:
