H-O-K-K-A-I-D-O-U

October 21, 2016

Greetings Citizens of the Universe!

How are you today? I’m still preparing for next week. However, the quarter is on now and it’ll be a while before I can get some reviews in.

However, I also noticed that there was a space for this week. So, what to talk about? I know!

During that busy summer, I forgot to talk about a small group of little ladies.

Mission Complete

August 11, 2016

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

You have a wonderful sleep, dreaming wonderful dreams that can spur you into action. Then, you awaken to face the day ahead, full of brightness and hope for the days ahead. You casually go to your Twitter feed to see what’s going on around the Tweetsphere and then you find this:

You go, “Huh. That’s so sad….” This comes in after you talk about the Kenshuusei and the afterglow of one’s promotion. Well, you are curious and feel like you’ve heard someone before. This intrigues you, wondering if anyone was among the awardees. You then hop on your laptop and begin drafting away a minor follow-up to said previous post.

After all, as was reported on July 28th, we’ve had a few “departures.” (Ironically, the post about the promotion was published that very day.)

Originally published May 26, 2016. Updated July 3, 2019.

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

While I’m holding the Zukki and Meimei Tribute, I thought of doing an additional post for those who want a little bit more. What with a certain recital behind us, what better topic than the trainees formerly known as the Hello! Project Eggs?!

More Country for New Girls

November 12, 2015

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

It was announced last week during their first birthday one-year anniversary event that Country Girls have received their second generation. (To put this in perspective with their successors, this would make them the sixth generation.)

The idea of a changing lineup would seem a bit strange, until you realize that it’s nothing new in Country Musume.

The blurb on the Hello! Project Wiki[a]’s front page puts it best:

In its early active years, the original Country Musume’s lineup was frequently changing. The resurrected Country Girls continues this tradition on the anniversary of their announcement by adding two new members, both from Hello Pro Kenshuusei.

BMS: The Results Show – Act SP

May 22, 2015

Preface: Before anyone says anything, there are duplicate videos on here (but at different times) because I couldn’t find the clips as standalones.

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Welcome to a surprise bonus edition of Berryz Memorial Survey: The Results Show. Last week was the final post detailing the results. This post, I’m taking the time to reflect and talk about legacy of the Berryz in the forms of their successors. But first, let’s recap the history of this now-legendary group:

  • The group was formed with 8 members in 2004. In Autumn 2005, Ishimura Maiha announced her graduation, which took place later in the season. Fortunately, unlike in their sister group C-ute, this was the only graduation to occur in Berryz history.
  • The group continued as a septet, building up momentum and footing. Many that were in the fandom (at least, the ones who responded and their answers went though) came in during this time. This came to an end around the late 2000s.
  • Things really skyrocketed for the Berryz when they began a three year-long tie-in period to the Inazuma Eleven franchise. This was marked by double A-side releases, an increase of exposure, and a spike in sales.
  • Around 2011, things calmed down and the Berryz began a transitional phase where they entered adulthood. In 2014, their hiatus was announced, which commenced on March 3rd, the 11th anniversary of their debut.

Now that we have covered the past, let’s take some present time to look to the future!

Ping Pong Pinpoint Precision Past Perspective – Part I

May 18, 2014

Warning: There will be a LOT of YouTube videos in this series, which may cause some browsers to lag and/or crash. You’ve been warned. If I missed anything, let me know.

Greetings, Magical Meteorites and other Earthlings who happened to drop by! As noted in a previous post, I am going to cover the interim of my hiatus (March 2009-February 2014) in a special series of posts.

So welcome to the Precision Past Perspective Edition of Ping Pong Pinpoint.

According to Time and Date.com, it has been (with the final date itself in parenthesis)…

  • 4 years, 10 months, 27 days (4 years, 10 months, 28 days)
  • 155,001,600 (155,088,000) seconds
  • 2,583,360 (2,584,800) minutes
  • 43,056 (43,080) hours
  • 1794 (1795) days
  • 256 weeks (rounded down)

…since my last contact. (I’m not counting that rather useless Stay Tuned post, which I may delete at a later time. It should’ve been a page.) Therefore, we have a lot to cover (or in some cases, relive) so let’s get the show on the road, shall we?
