I Am Sorry This Seasons Review Did Not Come Sooner!

December 23, 2019

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Sorry for releasing this so close to the deadline I set for myself!

See, I won Seasons in a giveaway held by Hello! Pro inspiration (@helloprolyrics) way back in March. Ever since, I’ve been trying to pay it forward and share my riches with you all in the form of a proper CD review (my first one since… oof, those two Shonen Knife ones (for Let’s Knife and Strawberry Sound) five years ago! Actually no, since the one for Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi that came out a week after the Strawberry Sound one!).

Yeah, I think you can get why I wanted this to be truly special (external factors notwithstanding), especially since this is one that is a lot closer to the blog’s current beat.

You can catch some of the process in this Instagram Stories Highlight.

That said, let’s dig into Country Girls’ Seasons and profusely apologize for this rebooted group’s untimely end.

A Hallowmas Triduum of Departures

November 8, 2018

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Have you had a good Halloween/Samhain/etc? Have all of the spooks and kooks been properly excised from your being, allowing with good energy?

I hope all of that has happened for once the spoopiness ended, the truly scary stuff began in Hello! Land. You see, barely a day removed from Halloween, the Hello! Project News machine began to spin.

Final Quarter of 2017 ☾

December 30, 2017

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

It’s that time of year again, when we get reflective of the past 300+ days. A lot has happened this year, which entailed numerous ups and downs. I got a bit into it during the Charisma, Kirei review, but this year was both exciting and draining.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at the Final Quarter of 2017 (and a look at 2018)!

For Good or Bad, It’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time!

May 25, 2017

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

How are things on your end? It’s been a crazy few months, right? Graduation announcements galore this spring (’tis the season), influenza, and other woes (and this is just in idoldom).

Well, allow me to bring back some normalcy with a review! Just like the last backlog, we start things off with Country Girls. Where we were in an innocent mindset with the previous single, this single had a particular shadow as it’s the last single to feature Playing Manager Tsugunaga Momoko.

So without further ado, let’s dig into Country Girls #5!

Do Tearful Requests Matter?

February 9, 2017

Preface: There’s going to be a lot of embedded content in this post, particularly YouTube videos.

“Baby, don’t I think” what?

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

After weeks of 4K Melons, Maho birthday projects, and Okinawan grandma idols, it’s time to return to more “normal” fare here on M3. Namely, getting to those long-awaited, long-delayed reviews from a quarter ago.

If I may be frank, it’s been a long quarter year and 2 months. From the last phase of election campaigning to the election results to the various protests and calls to action (some more literal than others) to the bizarre antics of the new administration, it really took its toll. Compounding this was a long feeling of burnout that culminated in an unpleasant Christmas present in the form of stomach flu. (Sheesh, that’s the second time in the row where a bout of burnout and illness marked my final months of a year.)

Anyway, things appear to have gotten back to normal. While I’m somewhat disappointed in the fact the M3 comic is behind schedule (primarily due to scripting issues), I am glad that a backlog of posts that erupted is finally being chipped away at. (Curse you, H!P, and how you have a buttload of groups who haven’t released a single A-side single since 2013.)

So let’s begin where we left off in 2016 by digging into Country Girls #4!

An Immortal Peach Berry: Momochi Goes Back to School

November 9, 2016

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

How are you on this Wednesday morning? Still sore from the election? (You can bet your butt I am….)

Let’s take a breather from that discussion. Allow me to tell you a tale.

Last Quarter Phase of 2016

October 13, 2016

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Another quarter down, another one to go. I hope to get the blog updating as usual as I’m a little in the middle of a project. I’ll let you know when I can give more details. Therefore, if the blog is slow to update, I humbly apologize.

And now I have a very special announcement for you all…

Loss Stinks: No Country for Manakan

August 9, 2016

(Don’t worry. This’ll be the last post to begin like this, but the pun was too irresistible. Had to bring in some humor to this dark time!)

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Enjoying the Games so far? At least they provide a welcome distraction from the loss we experienced last week.

So let’s dig into “Manakaloss” and see… well… how we came to this point, for starters?

The act of surviving the departure of an idol is a brave act in of itself.

Brave In!

Much Love for Manaka

May 3, 2016

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

This is going to be a short one. As you all know, Inaba Manaka of Country Girls has announced to be going on a summer hiatus due to health reasons. She has had asthma ever since she was a child and her symptoms have flared up to the point that it’s interfering with idol activities. Therefore, she will be missing part of the group’s spring/summer tour (along with the H!P summer tour) and the Osaka performance of their musical has been canceled.

I’ve Told Every Little Star

March 10, 2016

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Just like it’s been a long time since the One Punch Mags’ last offering, the same has been true for the Country Girls. Their previous single, Wakatteiru no ni Gomen ne / Tamerai Summertime, was released in August 2015 with the review coming in right before then. This was not long after the sudden departure of star member Shimamura Uta less than three months after their debut cut.

While the sophomore single served to show the group can survive after such a loss, this single serves to show the group with new life injected into it. As we all know, much like the Group Formerly Known as S/mileage, new blood was announced during a commemoration of the group’s first anniversary. Unlike the Group Formerly Known as S/mileage, it wasn’t the search of new member that was announced — it was the discovery of them, in the form of two Kenshuusei.

So let’s dig into Ranrarun ~Anata ni Muchuu~ and see if Country Girls continues to evolve.
