BMS: The Results Show – Act SP

May 22, 2015

Preface: Before anyone says anything, there are duplicate videos on here (but at different times) because I couldn’t find the clips as standalones.

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Welcome to a surprise bonus edition of Berryz Memorial Survey: The Results Show. Last week was the final post detailing the results. This post, I’m taking the time to reflect and talk about legacy of the Berryz in the forms of their successors. But first, let’s recap the history of this now-legendary group:

  • The group was formed with 8 members in 2004. In Autumn 2005, Ishimura Maiha announced her graduation, which took place later in the season. Fortunately, unlike in their sister group C-ute, this was the only graduation to occur in Berryz history.
  • The group continued as a septet, building up momentum and footing. Many that were in the fandom (at least, the ones who responded and their answers went though) came in during this time. This came to an end around the late 2000s.
  • Things really skyrocketed for the Berryz when they began a three year-long tie-in period to the Inazuma Eleven franchise. This was marked by double A-side releases, an increase of exposure, and a spike in sales.
  • Around 2011, things calmed down and the Berryz began a transitional phase where they entered adulthood. In 2014, their hiatus was announced, which commenced on March 3rd, the 11th anniversary of their debut.

Now that we have covered the past, let’s take some present time to look to the future!

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Welcome to the next installment of Berryz Memorial Survey: The Results Show. Last time, we took a look at the final phase of Berryz history as the lightning died down and the future began. However, just looking at those phases, we’ve barely even begun to look. There are so many nooks and crannies beyond proper singles and albums.

Citizens of the Universe, welcome to the final installment of this series: Other Spaces of the Berryz Universe!

BMS: The Results Show – Act IV

May 1, 2015

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Welcome to the next installment of Berryz Memorial Survey: The Results Show. Last time, we took at Berryz Koubou after the graduation of Ishimura Maiha. This time, we’re going to head into an era a good number of people remember. Some of you may have even arrived into the fandom during this era.

Starting in 2009, Berryz Koubou began to be tied into a soccer series called Inazuma Eleven (which is actually an animanga based on a game; those clever little…). This resulted in a skyrocketing of exposure for the group (and thus an influx of new fans). (This also resulted in the word “inazuma” being inserted at least once per relevant A-side, along with references to lightning.)

Can you feel the storm? Here it comes! Here comes the Inazuma Era!

BMS: The Results Show – Act III

April 24, 2015

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Welcome to the next installment of Berryz Memorial Survey: The Results Show. Last time, we took a look at the early days of Berryz Koubou. It all seemed to rise smoothly, but then the Berryz were hit with their first challenge: their first (and thankfully only) graduation.

On September 11, 2005, Ishimura Maiha announced her graduation, which commenced on October 2. This was a life-changing event as it altered the dynamic between the Berryz forever. (There’s a reason a majority of the responding fans said her graduation was the low point of the previous era.)

How will the Berryz get through this time? Well, as we all know, the Workshop rose stronger than ever afterwards. However, it all begins somewhere…

BMS: The Results Show – Act 0

April 3, 2015

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Well, it was a long and winding road, but our Berryz have bid us farewell one month ago today. Some stayed (Saki, Momoko, Chinami, Maasa), others went (Miyabi, Yurina, Risako). Regardless, throughout these years, the Berryz have left a long and lasting impact upon our lives.

Which brings us to this. Read the rest of this entry »
