Help a Blogger Out: A TLS Survey, MorniMete Style 2018

May 25, 2018

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Here’s a little something I started in 2017, but it was never published then (because reasons… but mainly because I didn’t finish them until now… which is far more appropriate!).

Anyway, enjoy this updated version of the MorniMete-style response to Help a Blogger Out: A TLS Survey.

On May 25, 2008 at 11:44 PM, I made a post to the original Morning Meteora blog where I let my heart out in the form of a survey. Looking at the questions and my answers, I was tempted to try to re-answer the survey in the present day to see where things are now. Welp, I decided to go through with it!

In memoriam of True Life Seek and the original Morning Meteora, Magi-Kat presents Help a Blogger Out: A TLS Survey presented by Magi-Kat! The old text is quoted while the new one is normal. If you want to give the survey a try yourself, go ahead and feel free!

“What Basic Premises Inform Your Blog?” A 2017 Perspective

May 11, 2018

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

Well, here’s a post I promised myself a few months ago, but neglected to post. 10th Anniversary aside, if you go to the About page, you’d see links to two particular posts:

After looking through them some time in 2017, I realized they were in serious need of an overhaul. Therefore, I decided to revisit those questions and answer them. Of course, I may end up having to update these answers again (even if I seem to have accounted for that), but that’s the nature of the beast.

Enjoy!

Many years ago, Blogmaster Ray (of American Wota, International Wota, and Idolminded fame) put forth a question to the blogosphere:

What Basic Premises Inform Your Blog?

While you have can read the original version of my answer here and the 2014 remake here, I thought that in the spirit of M3’s 10th anniversary (along with update the aforementioned 2014 post that is linked to from the About page), I’d showcase how much things have changed in three years.

The original post was notable as it was the debut of the “Magi-Kat Theory Edition,” meant for “my personal opinions and such.” Like before, I welcome anyone to try to answer these questions yourself. Who knows? It may help you in your blogging. (You’re also welcome to change it up, especially since some of the questions reference blogs that appear to be nonexistent these days.)

The Price of the “Sotsugyou” ~ Part ED

October 14, 2015

You can read Part 0 here, Part 1 here, and Part 2 here!

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

How has your week been? Well, I’ve been doing somewhat better than last week, though there were some rock bottom moments here and there. I’m fine now, thank goodness.

On a brighter note, I’ve been setting myself up to provide more video content, most likely of an art-related nature. However, I have considered doing a Q&A session while working on a possible tribute pic for Fukuda Kanon (unrelated the one mentioned in this post’s footer). In fact, I’ve been considering it for a long time now.

Speaking of which, for the past few weeks, I’ve been exploring the following:

…is there a correlation between graduations and high sales? Rather, the question would be “What effect do graduations have upon overall sales?

Well, I decided to answer this using Morning Musume as an example.  In Part 0, I began to discuss my fascination with the correlation between graduations and sales, using Morning Musume as an example. In Part 1, I began to take a deeper and chronological look starting with the first 9 graduation singles and their respective departees. In Part 2, I continued to do this with the later 9 graduation singles and their departees. This week, I will close it all together and bring it home!

The Price of the “Sotsugyou” – Part 2

October 7, 2015

You can read Part 0 here and Part 1 here!

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

How has your week been? Well, mine has been filled with feels. It began with me getting the bright idea to hear the song on my jewelry box’s music box and then looking it up on YouTube. (Warning: feels.) It continued with this Breaking Cat News comic that truly left my heart raw. It ended with me finding utter cuteness and a new injection of energy (might’ve been caused by World Smile Day). Those are just the feline feels.

All of this was compounded with an intense case of blackout, introspection, and the rainy day blues. That last one can be attributed to Hurricane Joaquin coming through. I’m still salty over missing the Super Blood Moon due to overcast conditions. Did I mention yet another shooting happened here in the States? (Ironically, the day after that was the International Day of Non-Violence.)

Know what else can cause blues? Graduations. Welcome to this next installment of “The Price of the ‘Sotsugyou'” where I try to answer the following:

…is there a correlation between graduations and high sales? Rather, the question would be “What effect do graduations have upon overall sales?

Well, I decided to answer this using Morning Musume as an example.  Last week, I began to take a deeper and chronological look starting with the first 9 graduation singles and their respective departees. This week, I will begin continue to do this with the next 9 graduation singles and their respective departees: Ishikawa Rika (and Yaguchi Mari), Konno Asami & Ogawa Makoto, Yoshizawa Hitomi (and Fujimoto Miki), Kusumi Koharu, Kamei Eri & JunLin*, Takahashi Ai, Niigaki Risa (and Mitsui Aika), Tanaka Reina, and Michishige Sayumi.

The Price of the “Sotsugyou” ~ Part 1

September 30, 2015

You can read Part 0 here!

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

How has your week been? Over the past week, I joined Instagram. I mostly post WIPs of the comic project I’m working on (which I’m almost finished with btw) so if you’re into that, give me a follow. (I do intend to post a sketch of a Fukuda Kanon tribute that’s been in the back of my mind since May. Her grad and grad single are coming, meaning the inevitable related posts are as well. In fact, it’s why I’m doing this to begin with! Speaking of which, Chuu!Sugoi!Idol announced their own tribute plans. Be sure to spread the word! You know I am.)

On another note, the following is related as well:

Anyway, all this graduation talk has sparked the following ponderings:

…is there a correlation between graduations and high sales? Rather, the question would be “What effect do graduations have upon overall sales?

Well, last week, I began to discuss my fascination with the correlation between graduations and sales, using Morning Musume as an example. This week, I will begin to take a deeper and chronological look starting with the first 9 graduation singles and their respective departees: Fukuda Asuka, Ishiguro Aya, Ichii Sayaka, Nakazawa Yuko, Goto Maki, Yasuda Kei, Abe Natsumi, Tsuji Nozomi & Kago Ai, and Iida Kaori.

The Price of the “Sotsugyou” ~ Part 0

September 23, 2015

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

How has your week been? Well, over the past weekend, I started my art/portfolio blog! While I’ll continue to post art to my main (personal) blog, I’ll also be posting my art there so it’ll get extra focus. (Plus, it was repeatedly suggested, even recommended that I have a separate art blog if I’m going to use Tumblr as a base of operations.) On Monday, we had the cake eating to celebrate my brother’s birthday as he had a root canal the day of. (Ouch.)

Fortunately (and hopefully) for you lot, this post is more like the cake than the dental work! This one (or “series” of which) was a long time coming. Allow me to explain why:
