Top 10s for 2019-21

Looking back at the past years and to the year ahead.

Happy New Year!

With the transition in years come a time for retrospective pieces, listicles, and the doling out of awards. For example, the fine folks and community at Homicidols have recently unveiled their winners for the year.

(On that note, do join their Discord server please. It is as wholesome as it is hard punk… core…. It’s a fun place to be if you’re into alt/chika idol or just curious about it!)

That’s not even getting into the 2021 International H!P Fan Vote, which (at the time of this post’s publishing) is live (for two weeks!).

And then there’s the countdown to the end of the previous year.

Allow me to share an amusing anecdote: I was watching a Twitch Vtuber do a DJ stream at the time and just when it’d hit midnight in my time zone, this classic came up in her set…

Anyone else think this is a sign of things to come? …Or that I should give M3 more love? …Or that I should at least review this?

Yep. Just as I (like many other H!P fans) made sure Ren’ai Revolution 21 was one of the first songs to ring in 2021, I literally started 2022 with Minimoni — my all-time favorite H!P unit. (Probably doesn’t help that the cruel assassin who downed Baka Tono-sama still roams the streets….)

(looks at the page on the wiki) Oh my… 2022 is this song’s 20th anniversary! I have extra reason to cover it this year now!

Anyway…

It’s been a long, long time since the last Top 10 graced this fine blog (the least of which being because my output slowed down to a crawl then). Namely, 2018.

It is now 2022.

2019, 2020, and 2021 have come and gone.

Time to make up for lost time!
