Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!
Juice=Juice’s tenth single release, Next is you! / Karada Dake ga Otona ni Nattan ja nai, is almost here. Their first single in 10 months, this single (well, the first A-side) serves as a tie-in to their Budokan drama. However, anything relating to it is region-locked. Fortunately, the full MV is not so let’s dig into Next is you! (which is technically the debut single for NEXT YOU, the heroines of Budokan).
In contrast to its Juice=Juice counterpart, Next is you! is a dance-influence number akin to Watashi ga Iu Mae ni Dakishimenakya ne, Kaze ni Fukarete, and Senobi. It has its funkiness but it’s a lot more subtle.
The H!S Edit was unveiled on the 152nd installment that was posted on the 20th.
For the most part, the H!S Edit had out girls in a room with a large red curtain as the background. This forms the basis of a good portion of the clip, in addition to the close-up shots seen below…
…utilizing a lot of “curtains.” Very late in the clip, we are introduced to a new kind of solo shot. I’ll call these the “bedroom shots” because… frankly, there’s no other way to describe them, really.
The full MV was uploaded onto the official channel on January 25th, showcasing more shots and effects. For example, we see the inclusion of flowers as a motif for the MV. Each flower represents a member (i.e. the red rose for Tsurui Rurika aka Miyamoto Yuka), much like idols are blossoms in a garden.
Some other flourishes included a brief flash of “NXT” after the song’s intro and some shots to sync with the “claps” in the first verse.
Unfortunately, all of this was overshadowed by the news made later that day that Kanazawa Tomoko (who plays yellow member Sakamoto Hana) had endometriosis.
The single is going to be released on February 3, three days from the premiere of their drama Budokan. Please support Juice=Juice by purchasing from official sources.
The current M3 Mystery is your thoughts on the single so far.
Until the Next One!
