Oh [It’s] My Wish: Refresh My Skirting Heart with the Courage to Jump In Right Now!

Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!

How’s your summer so far? Mine’s been somewhat eventful as I was finally able to complete and unveil a fan-art series in relation to the latest installment in what is possibly the most famous doujin soft series of all time (so big that it has the Guinness World Record for “worlds most prolific fan-made shooter series”).

…and like Hello! Project, Touhou Project features a buttload of pretty girls (with the counting increasing almost annually), is well-known among the “geek” (for lack of a better word) communities, is considered the brainchild (and labor of love) of a freakishly creative man who has “un” in his stage name, and is going strong for about two decades. (In fact, this year marks the 20th anniversary.)

But enough about ZUN‘s project, let’s get back to Tsunku’s. Particularly, the Mothership Connection’s 59th single.

The single was announced on the 125th installment of Hello! Project Station (along with the concert name of the H!P Summer Tour), followed by a clip featuring one of the A-Sides “Sukkato My Heart”). Each A-side’s MV was unveiled with the upcoming weeks with details at their respective sections.

Oh my wish!

Do The Hustle
Be A Muscle—

Oops, wrong song! Darnit Kat, when will stop that?!

But I can’t help it! It’s what the title reminded me of!

Anyway…

The Song

The song musically appeals to me as I’ve been listening to a lot of Eiffel 65/Bloom 06 at the time the clips came out. I will also admit when the song really got started, I was (for some God-only-knows reason) reminded a bit of “Tu Credi” (particularly elements of the album version and the “Complete Opera” version, though the song is enjoyable in its alternate forms in Italian and English)… (I have a weird ear for music, I know.)

Featuring Ice Fairy Zukki, Faith Girl Kuduu, and Golden Girl Mikicha on lead with a spoken section by Golden Girls Ogata and Akane (the first since Help me!!), the song is a somber yet uplifting song with a mildly energetic tempo.
Perfect for Motivator Monday.

The PV

A concert performance was shown during the 126th installment of Hello! Project Station while the Hello!Sta edit appeared on next week’s episode. The full PV was unveiled on July 27th.

We see them in a theatre-like setting (the Tokyo Kinema Club to be exact).
Starting the second verse, we see them at an alternate part of the theatre, sitting at tables.
We see various members (beginning of Kanon, to the delight of her supporters) near a wall, a balcony of seats (beginning with Haruka), a stage (starting with a quartet of Fukumura Mizuki, Ikuta Erina, Sayashi Riho, and Ishida Ayumi).

Sukatto My Heart

Initally translated as “Skirt My Heart,” the official translation is “Refresh My Heart.”

The Song

The song is funk-injected pop song that is reminiscent of the Golden Era of Morning Musume (or Juice=Juice’s “Romance no Tochuu).

Paradise.

The PV

Ima Sugu Tobikomu Yuuki

The official translation is “The Courage to Jump In Right Now.”

The Song

The music is light and uplifting. The lyrics are a uplifting statement of encouragement. Some commented that this was akin to the Platinum Era offerings. (Indeed, this has a similar feel to Seishun Collection.) Let’s fly and swim like waterfowl.

The PV

Compared to its sister A-sides, the PV is rather simple (especially given the title card). We see them on a set with boxes, either sitting or posing. It’s not all bad as the juxtaposition between the sky and the sea (you can see water effects at times with the boxes). Plus, with the glamour of the first two MVs, a simple one that compliments the lyrics is the best thing to sound it all out.
The costumes are also delightful, but also standard idol fare. (They were compared to the look of Shining Power.)

In Conclusion

The single looks to be quite an offering from the Morning Girls. Between he brooding “Oh my wish!,” the refreshingly funky “Sukkato My Heart,” to the light and flighty “Ima Sugu Tobikumu Yuuki,” our girls are set the close out the summer season with a bang.

The single goes on sale August 19. Do these idols a solid and support them, please?

Love and peace until next time,
Magi-Kat

This is probably one of the few shots I got of this stage because most of them unfortunately showed their bottoms. I pride myself as a blogger with standards.
