(Out) In The Country

Before the breathin’ air is gone
Before the sun is just a bright spot in the nighttime
Out where the rivers like to run
I stand alone and take back somethin’ worth rememberin’

Remember when Country Musume’s revival was… well, put to pasture? Well… WELP! There is a country for new Musume Girls after all!

It was recently announced that the revival is still happening as a new group: Country Girls (titled so for international appeal).

Featuring Satoda Mai as “general manager” (a term that sorta makes the wrestling fan in me chuckle; also, she’ll be doing this from New York… somehow) and Tsugunaga Momoko as a “playing manager” sub-member (who is only there until she graduates from Berryz Koubou so calm yourselves*), this little offering of H!P goodness consists of pentagonal pent-up powerfulness: KSS Yamaki Risa and Inaba Manaka with 12th Gen hopefuls Ozeki Mai, Shimamura Uta and Morito Chisaki. Chisaki and Mai have been in the idol game before, CoCoRo Gakuen and Tambourine Artists respectively.

Their official debut is set for January 2nd during the H!P Winter Tour.

This group is notable for not being produced by Tsunku, instead being handled by the aforementioned Satoda and Tsugunaga. We’ll see what effect that’ll have, especially with Momochi’s presence. (I’m not too worried though, unlike most fans. Many of them (the newbie idols) cite Berryz as a reason to pursue the idol life, especially in H!P so this is perfect for her.)

What do I take back that’s worth remembering? Well, pretty much everything. Imagine my excitement regarding this news! It almost takes away the saltiness from the news we received around this time (almost).

Here’s some footage related to the announcement as shown on recent episodes of Hello! Station:

I’ll leave you with some relief.

Until next time, great ones!

*Or “during 2~3 years to make them grow together and become adult, following the expectations of Mai and to pursue the history of the group,” according to the Facebook post about it. We’ll see which is which, but most reports point towards what was in the post itself so…
